Plot summary
This breathtaking made-for-TV movie inspired by Virginia Woolf's novel of the same name follows the Ramsey family on their annual holiday in Cornwall. The threat of World War I hangs over Europe, and Mrs. Ramsey (Rosemary Harris) presides over her precocious brood, eager to make their vacation pleasant even as her husband (Michael Gough) struggles against the constant togetherness.
