Morgan Freeman (Actor)
Bio: Born June 1, 1937, in Memphis, Tenn., Freeman has enjoyed a long career onstage, in television and in movies, where his dramatic presence has lent an air of gravitas to many features. He had a peripatetic childhood, moving with his family from Mississippi to Indiana to Illinois while still very young.At age 12, Freeman won a statewide drama competition that confirmed his acting promise. He made his Broadway acting debut in the all-black "Hello, Dolly" with Pearl Bailey and went on to originate the role of the black chauffeur the Off-Broadway hit "Driving Miss Daisy."
After considerable TV and film experience, Freeman made his mark in Glory and the film version of Driving Miss Daisy (1989), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Seven (1995) and High Crimes (2002). The owner of a blues bar in Clarksdale, Miss., the twice-married Freeman is an accomplished yachtsman and the father of two daughters.
